EcoVenture, Todey Tangta: An Offbeat Paradise for Nature Lovers.

Nestled in the isolated town of Tangta, close to the Indo-Bhutan border in North Bengal, EcoVenture is a unique haven for hikers, nature enthusiasts, and anybody looking to get away from the bustle of the city. Surrounded by thick forests, undulating hills, and uncharted paths, this ecotourism project offers a fusion of adventure, cultural immersion, and profound peace.

The Trek to Tangta Top — a moderately difficult path — offers expansive views of the Eastern Himalayan range, Bhutanese valleys, and the verdant Dooars plains. The trail meanders past alpine meadows teeming with wildflowers and birdsong, as well as beautiful woods and bamboo groves.

Sunbirds, Himalayan barbets, and even the elusive hill partridge can be seen here, making it a great place to birdwatch, especially in the early morning. The EcoVenture philosophy revolves around nature walks, forest bathing, and village engagement.

EcoVenture provides environmentally friendly tents and cottages designed to blend in with the surrounding landscape. The accommodations are basic but comfortable, with solar-powered lighting, clean linen, and adjacent bathrooms in most of the apartments.

Highlights include the home-cooked, hearty, locally sourced meals — traditional Bengali and Nepali cuisine made with fresh, in-season vegetables. It's purposeful that there isn't television or Wi-Fi here.

The closest major train station is Siliguri or New Jalpaiguri (NJP); you can drive from NJP to Tangta in 4–5 hours along picturesque mountain routes. Make reservations in advance, particularly during March–May and October–November.
