Silence is a skill, not a gift.

Nobody is born good at silence. You learn it the same way you learn anything else. By practising. Most people quit after three minutes because they were promised it would feel good. It does not, at first.
What you are training is the ability to watch your thoughts without joining them. That is the whole skill. Once you can do that for ten minutes, you can do it for an hour. Once you can do it for an hour, the rest of your day looks different.
Start with five minutes. Sit, eyes closed. Breathe. When a thought arrives, name it: planning, worry, memory. Then come back to the breath. That is the practice. That is all of it.
“You are not trying to stop thinking. You are learning to watch thinking without joining in.”
Five minutes tonight. Same chair tomorrow. Same chair next week. Practise like the breath is a muscle.
